Listening to this collection feels like hearing a completely new KISS album. Highlights include the original 1975 version of Mr. Make Believe; the fascinating Dreamer, which is believed to be a leftover from the Destroyer sessions; Fourever, a tribute to the band itself that was originally planned, together with Ace Frehley’s Queen for a Day, for inclusion on Double Platinum; the Dynasty-era version of Only You, which later appeared on Music from "The Elder"; Mirage, written for Smashes, Thrashes & Hits; and the excellent Roar of the Greasepaint from 1997, which later evolved into Journey of 1,000 Years on Psycho Circus.

This release completes the series of studio session CDs on the Zodiac label and brings together virtually all significant unreleased KISS studio recordings in one collection.

Another very different take from the Bell Sound Studio sessions from November 24 & 25 1973.

02. See You Tonite (1975)
A significantly different take recorded after Dresses To Kill bit can't be found on either the official Dressed To Kill or Alive! Super deluxe boxsets.

03. Man of a 1000 Faces (1975)
Same sessions different version as the one already released.

04. Always Near You (1976)
05. One More Chance (1976)
06. Dreamer (1976)
These three tracks are apparently from the Destroyer era or post and pre RARO. One More Chance is of interest as it is an early version of Mr. Make Believe. Dreamer is an exceptional unreleased song. It was surely considered for an album as this is the fully finished song.

07. Just Gimme Love (1977)
This song turned into You Wanted The Best 20 years later.

08. Rockin' In the USA (1977)
A very early version of the song opening Side 4 of AliveII.

09. Fourever (1978)
Gene wanted to write another rallying song like Rock and Roll All Nite that proved the strong bond and unity between the 4 members. It was supposed to be one of the two new tracks on Double Platinum.

10. Only You (1979)
We all know the version on The Elder but this is something else.

11. Sweet Temptation (1979)
A great post Dynasty pre Unmasked song.

12. You're All That I Want (1980)
An early and very different version to the album track from Unmasked.

13. You're My Reason For Livin' (1980)
A song that popped up a few more times in Kisstory but this is the earliest know Unmasked era track.
14. Am I Losing My Mind (1980)
The final one from the Unmasked sessions, a great composition.

15. Mirage (1988)
We skip a few years, 8 to be precise , and Mirage is one of the new songs initially proposed for Smashes, Thrashes and Hits

16. In Your Face (1997 Original)
We skip another 10 years to the (pre-) Psycho Circus sessions. This is Gene Simmons original demo with himself on vocals.

17. I Wanna Rule The World (1998)
A Carnival of Souls leftover that was again considered for PC.

18. Roar of The Greasepaint (1998)
This is a musical masterpiece. A tour de force that transformed into Journey of a 1,000 years and a fitting finale to this album and series.

INFORMATION FOR OVERSEAS' COLLECTORS

1985 was a highly productive period for KISS, especially for Gene Simmons. These session recordings prove it, featuring a wide selection of high-quality unreleased material, some of which was later used for the Asylum album.

Many songs, however, remained in the archives and are now emerging nearly forty years later.

This is a unique experience of the legendary KISS ALIVE! album, featuring the unmixed original recordings of the songs that ultimately appeared on the record. These are the bare-bones tracks, without overdubs, taken from the original Alive! recordings.

But that’s not all. The tracks that were left off the album have also been included in their correct positions within the setlist. As a bonus, “Ladies in Waiting” is featured as well, a song for which it is not fully confirmed whether it was performed during the Dressed to Kill tour or exclusively during the Alive! tour.

Together, this creates an incredible and unique listening experience: the true Alive! album, including all songs performed during KISS’s legendary breakthrough tour.

To uncover the history of KISS even further, we have delved deeply into the archives as part of our KISSTORICUS project and brought unique material to the surface.

Material from the pre-KISS era that has rarely or never been heard before. We have compiled this material on this exclusive and unique CD, featuring recordings made by Paul, Gene, and Peter before they formed KISS.

This is historical material that was never officially released and is now finally making its way to the fans.

1. Uncle Joe - “Stop, Look To Listen”

Recorded at Mayfair Studios in New York.

For a long time, 1966 was cited as the recording year, but research indicates the session most likely took place closer to 1970.

One of the earliest songs written by Gene Simmons. Written when Gene was approximately 14 years old.

One of Gene Simmons’ best-known pre-Wicked Lester demo recordings.

Recorded on a Richcraft Recording Company acetate.

Archival notes suggest the musicians were likely members of Bullfrog Bheer, possibly later supplemented with overdubs by Brooke Ostrander of Wicked Lester.

Among collectors, this is often regarded as one of the most significant early Gene Simmons recordings.

Wicked Lester interpretation of the song originally associated with the band’s broader demo repertoire.

Unreleased Wicked Lester track showcasing a more melodic, soft-rock arrangement style.

This CD begins with the legendary demo recording that KISS made with Eddie Kramer at Electric Lady Studios in New York City.

This version is an upgraded edition of the previously leaked recording. It was reportedly planned for release in 2023 as part of an official KISS Super Deluxe Edition. However, after the acquisition of KISS music rights by Pophouse, the project was postponed indefinitely.

That box set was also expected to include the complete Bell Sound Studio sessions. KISS entered Bell Sound Studios on November 10, 1973, to record their debut album. These sessions are exceptional and unique because they contain different interpretations of songs such as Firehouse and 100,000 Years. Fans can only hope that the complete sessions will one day finally be released.

Finally, this collection includes a demo version of Going Blind from the Hotter Than Hell album, here still titled Little Lady.

This is the complete collection of early KISS studio recordings in the highest quality available.

The recording sessions with legendary producer Eddie Kramer in the spring of 1977, following KISS’s triumphant first visit to Japan, produced a remarkable amount of exclusive and fascinating material, much of it hidden away for decades, with some recordings never before seeing the light of day.

The original and alternate version of the song, still carrying the working title “Have Love Will Travel.”

An early and alternate demo version by Peter Criss, slightly harder-edged than the final album version.

* Almost Human
Early demo version with noticeable differences from the final recording.

Recorded during the same sessions as Reputation, this early version of “Living in Sin” was later re-recorded for Gene’s 1978 solo album.

A completely different take featuring piano, later reused in Christine Sixteen.

* Much Too Soon
Recorded during the Love Gun sessions but left unused. Parts of the song later evolved into “X-Ray Eyes” on the 1979 Dynasty album.

* Obnoxious
An early version of Reputation, originally recorded under a different title.

* Reputation
A second version of Obnoxious, now renamed “Reputation” and featuring piano parts later used in Christine Sixteen. The song eventually evolved into Christine Sixteen.

* Reputation (Take 2)
An alternate take without piano, written with the idea of rock ’n’ roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis participating. Gene even refers to him in the lyrics.

* Larger Than Life
The original Love Gun version of the song that later appeared on Side 4 of Alive II. This version is very different and bears little resemblance to either the final recording or the Alive II demo.

* Love Bite
Peter Criss contributed two songs for the Love Gun album. This track was ultimately rejected.

* Eat Your Heart Out
Recorded during the Love Gun sessions but shelved for many years. In 2012, it resurfaced, at least in title and lyrical form, on the Monster album.

* I Have Just Begun to Fight
Recorded by Gene before the Love Gun sessions. It was not used for the album and later re-recorded with Bruce Kulickand Eric Carr in 1985, but once again rejected, this time for the Asylum album.

* Mongloid Man
Originally recorded as an instrumental during the Rock and Roll Over sessions under the title “Daily Planet.” Presented here in its final version with lyrics, which was ultimately rejected for Love Gun.

* Tunnel of Love
Recorded during the same sessions as Christine Sixteen but rejected at the last minute. Fortunately, a slightly different version later appeared on Gene’s 1978 solo album.

* I Love It Loud
A raw, heavier, and harder-edged full-length mix of the album’s lead single. The song was originally written in late 1980 or early 1981 under the title “I Wanna Be the President” and was intended for the album planned after Unmasked. However, the band changed direction and recorded Music from “The Elder” instead. About a year later, the song evolved into “I Love It Loud.”

* I Still Love You (Instrumental Take)
Early instrumental version of Paul’s emotional ballad.

* I Still Love You (Take 1)
A later take featuring lyrics. This heartbreaking ballad was written by Paul for his former girlfriend, Donna Dixon. Before the recording begins, Paul even mentions that the song is dedicated to her.

* Killer (Drum Session)
Drum session recordings by the beloved, late Eric Carr for the song “Killer.”

* War Machine (Full-Length Version)
A very different, longer, and rawer version of the song.

* Partners in Crime
Originally featured on the Killers album, this song was considered for Creatures of the Night, especially since Killers was not released in the United States. This is a different version to the Killers version.

* It’s My Life
Dropped from the album at the last minute, this outstanding outtake was later given to Wendy O’ Williams as the lead single for her WOW album.

* Legends Never Die
Another strong contender for the album, this fully completed track was ultimately left off the final tracklist. It resurfaced during both the Hot in the Shade and Psycho Circus sessions but was rejected again each time.

* Betrayed
A fully completed song written by Paul for the album, but rejected by producer Michael James Jackson, who felt the album was already strong enough without this powerful track.

* Not for the Innocent
One of the few collaborations between Paul and Gene, presented here in a different form from the version that eventually appeared a year later on Lick It Up.

* It’s Gonna Be Alright
The very first song Gene recorded during the Creatures of the Night sessions. Despite this, it never even made it onto a potential track listing.

A legendary duo in HR/HM history: Randy Rhoads & Ozzy Osbourne. A new live collection has been born, capturing the miraculous night when these two legends stood side by side! It's being released on a permanently preserved pressed CD!!

This release captures the "Long Beach Arena performance on June 27, 1981." It's a pure audience recording. Those familiar with "Long Beach in the Randy era" will likely recognize it. We've previously featured a release with the same title, 'Zodiac 385,' but this isn't an upgraded version... This is something completely different from 'Zodiac 385.' And it's not just a matter of different generations or different recording routes; it's not even a different recording of the same performance. The live performance itself is different.

[Latest Research Reveals the "True Long Beach Recording"]

The truth is, "The previously published master was not a Long Beach recording." This is not uncommon with vintage recordings; when a live recording with different content from the circulating source is discovered, it sparks debate: "Which one is the real deal?" and "When was the recording we've believed to be from?" The same thing happened with Ozzy's 1981 Long Beach recording.

So, what is the true Long Beach recording? That's this release. (Incidentally, the previously published master was actually from the June 21, 1981 El Paso concert. It's a valuable recording from a different concert than the similarly titled 'EL PASO 1982 (Zodiac 557)', so those who own it should cherish it in their collection.) First, let's examine the show's position within the context of his activities at the time.

INFORMATION FOR OVERSEAS' COLLECTORS

In 1990, with the HITS Tour, KISS once again proved that they were a band to be reckoned with, even as the new decade began.

The tour showed that this line-up still had a future and could confidently look ahead to its 20th anniversary, despite the rapidly changing musical climate.

Full of confidence and renewed energy, the band turned its attention to writing and recording a new album that would receive the highly appropriate title: REVENGE.

The release of the album was delayed, however, when our beloved drummer Eric Carr was diagnosed with cancer. After successful treatment, it initially seemed that the disease had been defeated. Sadly, the opposite soon became clear. Eric Carr was seriously ill, and KISS decided to temporarily replace him with Eric Singer, who had already been playing drums in Paul Stanley's solo band.

In 1989, in New York, Eric Carr had prophetically said to Eric Singer: “You are going to replace me as the drummer of KISS.”

At the end of 1991, that prediction became reality although for a tragic reason Eric Carr could never have imagined. Eric Carr sadly passed away as a result of the terrible disease of cancer.

Despite this devastating setback, KISS came roaring back with the album REVENGE and the accompanying world tour. The tour was preceded by a series of club shows designed to introduce Eric Singer as the new drummer of KISS.

Hiring Eric Singer proved to be an absolutely perfect decision. He fit the band perfectly and, just as Eric Carr had done twelve years earlier, gave KISS the powerful kick it desperately needed.

KISS sounded fresh, hard, heavy and mean again just as they had between 1973 and 1975.

You can hear exactly how they sounded on this unique CD, which contains the only professional recordings of this club tour. These recordings were originally compiled for a single LP, which explains why the set is incomplete. But what you get here is KISS at their absolute best.

The band fires on all cylinders, combining classic songs with material from the new album. From the menace of “Unholy” and the swagger of “Take It Off” to the melancholic “God Gave Rock and Roll to You II”, the set delivers one highlight after another.

Do not let the relatively short playing time of approximately 50 minutes put you off. This perfectly mixed and mastered recording sounds like an official live release, complete with no overdubs.

This is truly one of the finest KISS live recordings ever made.

INFORMATION FOR OVERSEAS' COLLECTORS

The Carnival of Souls sessions eventually began in November 1995 and were completed in late January 1996.

It was a strange period for KISS. The band wanted to create a worthy follow-up to the strongRevenge, while already having one foot in the upcoming reunion.
While Paul and Gene were already in talks with Ace and Peter, Bruce and Eric finished the album.

Carnival of Souls became Bruce Kulick’s swan song with KISS ? and arguably his strongest and heaviest work ever. His contributions to the sessions can be clearly heard throughout this new masterpiece.

This disc combines all available tracks in circulation of the COS sessions in superb quality with different raw takes of album tracks and a selection of unreleased tracks including the unreleased title track of the album.

* These three songs are technically the first COS sessions. I Wanna Rule The World #2 is already in the style of COS. #1 and Juliet are more a continuation of the HITS and Revenge sessions. Where Juliet was never re-recorded during future sessions I wanna Rule The World reappeared during 1998’s Psycho Circus sessions.

A Gene Simmons and Vinnie Vincent composition that originates pre Revenge era and somehow popped up again during the COS sessions.

Rain is a remake of the then unfinished Rain Keep’s Falling from the HITS sessions. It would be turnee into a heavier songs as Rain during these sessions and on the COS album, only to be switched back to its original version and lyrics for the Psycho Circus sessions.

Another Psycho Circus crossover. The raw version was here finished for COS only to finally end up on Psycho Circus 3 years later

Paul wrote this song with Dave Sabo of Skid Row in 1991. It was a strong contender for the album, but Paul decided to leave it off, saying it was “too good, and on a great album like Revenge it would not be missed.” However, the song was never used again afterward.
