KISSTORY 23 is the second chapter covering the KISS MY A** period and focuses on the tour that followed the release of the tribute album.
The tour kicked off with massive stadium shows in South America. Just as Australia experienced KISSTERIA in 1980, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil were swept up in the same incredible KISS fever. This DVD set captures that excitement perfectly with spectacular footage that shows the true madness of the tour.
After a short break, KISS travelled to Japan. Because these concerts took place shortly after the devastating Great Hanshin Earthquake in Kobe, which claimed 6,434 lives, there was very little media attention for the band. The only footage filmed for Japanese television, but was never broadcast, was recorded at the Budokan show. Three songs were professionally filmed for TV, and they are completely different from the full pro-shot concert that was released by Zodiac in 2025.
In contrast, a wealth of footage exists from the Australian leg of the tour. For this release, we have added unique and exclusive, previously unreleased television footage, including one of the absolute highlights: professionally filmed material from the very first KISS Unplugged performances. As an extra bonus, current KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer can even be seen working behind the camera as one of the cameramen!
