When KISS decided in 1996 to breathe new life into the original line-up, expectations among the band’s fiercely loyal KISS Army were sky-high. For them, a long-cherished dream was finally becoming a reality.
As you could see on the recently released Shades DVD KISStory 25, the reunion turned into an unprecedented triumph, with the band playing to sold-out stadiums around the world.
Sadly, and against all expectations, no official Alive IV album was ever released to document this legendary tour. To this day, many fans still regard this as a major missed opportunity.
Fortunately, in early 1997, once the band had fully settled back into its groove and was performing at a level that rivalled the glory days of the 1970s, one of the finest nights of the tour was recorded as a radio concert.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the KISS Alive Worldwide Tour 1996?97, Zodiac is finally giving fans the Alivealbum that never was. Recorded in front of a frenzied audience in Santiago, Chile, this unique release offers a thrilling selection from KISS’ extensive repertoire, including an exceptionally rare performance of “2,000 Man.”
The Rolling Stones cover, sung by the sadly and tragically departed Ace Frehley, briefly replaced “New York Groove” in the setlist during this leg of the tour. This remarkable performance was captured on tape and is presented here in all its glory.
