Motley Crue’s breakthrough is often attributed to their recent appearance at the US Festival, released on Zodiac, but the band that truly introduced the Crue to a mass audience was KISS!

During the Creatures of the Night tour, Motley Crue served as KISS’s support act for the California shows. The Crue were already hugely popular in that part of the country, and KISS hoped to boost ticket sales for their poorly attended COTN tour by adding these young, rising stars to the bill.

And it worked: the shows were virtually sold out, thanks in no small part to the addition of the Crue, who proved to be the perfect band to fire up the audience.

For years, it was assumed that these shows had never been recorded. But now we have one complete recording and another incomplete one, and both make it abundantly clear why the Crue’s fame would soar to extraordinary heights over the following years!
